Garden of Roses – Diary of a Brother (Mano)

Author's Note The history of Seven Knights of the Apocalypse is a key point in that novel. Boys with the same infancy in the street, but with a different family education. The events narrated define the destiny of each one, but the pact made in childhood means that nothing changes the relationship of friendship between them. A young man called on his daily reports Cassiano the major events of his life, recalling her childhood, adolescence and entered the world of adults. Cassiano was born and grew up on the periphery of the Rose Garden neighborhood, located in the Capão Redondo, known for high crime and juvenile delinquency. The Capão Redondo had its reputation highlighted by the newspapers and TV networks mainly in the 1990's, when many crimes and facts of adolescence, Cassiano are also reported. The book brings a language characteristic of large suburbs paulistanos, presenting many dialects translated in the glossary at the end of the book. Garden of Roses has a differential, which is the way it was written: use is a poetic language to describe tragic events, usually characterized by marginal literature, poetry and also different about the feelings of Cassiano. The book has moments of reflection on young people and people that make these young people. The search for explanations for the thoughts, attitudes and for themselves events makes the narrator-character Cassiano find their identity and a reason to continue living in search of great achievements, personal and professional. Diary of a Brother addresses the key issues that afflict the poorest communities and, consequently, affects society at large: drugs, teenage pregnancy, murder of young people, unemployment and crime. But the book is not only the tragedies, and it is also another gap that novel. Cassiano tells his childhood poor, but happy, describing many moments of joy and entertainment to children. Narra also happy moments of his adolescence, as the festivities in your school, Lieutenant Ariston, the way a classic football, dating with Mary and the great friendship with the Knights of the Apocalypse, a group of 7 friends from childhood that remains attached to the death of some of them, when they take different directions in their lives.
